Studying Animation, Screen, Multimedia & Design at Holmesglen Holmesglen Institute of TAFE offers Advanced Diploma courses in Animation, Screen and Multimedia (Design) at the Waverley Campus. During these two-year, full-time courses students develop essential skills to prepare them for work in the exciting, fast-growing industries of animation, film, television and multimedia. Graduates of the Animation course will be prepared to seek employment as storyboard and layout artists, animators, modellers and visual effects designers. Screen graduates will be employable in camera operation and sound production or as a Production Assistant or Assistant Director and Multimedia graduates will have the skills to apply to a broad range of occupations in multimedia from desktop publishing to video production to creating multimedia products. All avenues will also open the door for self employment. In addition to the Advanced Diploma courses the Waverley campus also offers Certificate IV in Printing & Graphic Arts (Graphic Pre-press) and Certificate II in Printing & Graphic Arts (Desktop Publishing). Certificate II gives students the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in design and production of documents using industry standard desktop publishing software appropriate to the printing industry. Outcomes include formatting of publications; digital alterations to photographs; preparation of material for print such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, business cards and creation of web publications. Certificate IV prepares students for employment in the sophisticated electronic environment of pre-press as an electronic publisher or pre-press operator. Students acquire practical, technical and theoretical skills in electronic assembly of text and graphics, typography, design, complex imposition, colour management, communications, quality control and digital output. Holmesglen offers excellent facilities and equipment to enhance the learning experience and industry-relevant training from teachers who themselves work in the digital media industry, and are in touch with the trends of this fast-paced environment.
