Kids Club: Pixel Pinkie

Film classification regulations in Australia require all films to either be formally classified OR restricted to an audience of 18 years of age and over. Like most festivals, we do not have the resources to classify films, and it is for this reason alone that we are not able to admit any person under the age of 18 years to the main MIAF screenings.

La Vita Nuova

Programs of the best recently released films selected from 2400+ entries received from all over the world. Every technique, every imaginable subject, every genre. The MIAF International Competition screenings are the backbone of the festival line-up and your up-to-date snapshot of the incredibly diverse, eclectic and vibrant independent animation scene.

In addition to 6 ‘open’ International Competition screenings there will also be programs in competition that focus specifically on Australian talent, the digital community, the purely abstract, long form, new Croatian releases, the sublime technique of animating sand (our 2009 technique focus), highlights from SIGGRAPH Asia 2008, and for the very first time, the cult program Late Night Bizarre will be open to official voting!
