Priit Parn is truly one of animation’s living
treasures. His films are absolutely unique, even by the extended
standards of Estonian animation, and reflect the work of an artist
with continually exploring new ground, developing new ideas and
looking for ways to express his individual, highly idiosyncratic
view of the world. Parn has recently remarried – to Olga -
and through this has unquestionably found a new lease on life.
Together they have created an absorbing new film
which blends this rich history of Parn’s earlier works with
the vibrancy and clear air of a new outlook on the world.
Gabriella Ferri never makes an appearance in this
film although her presence is often felt even as we wonder how her
purpose in life might be described. In the journey the Parn’s
take us on we experience a dramatic story about love, locked doors,
a faceless thief, a wounded stork, a lost laptop and the O’Key
sisters who turn out to be virtual prostitutes. The pinpoint of
light in the distance may just prove to be that of an approaching
happy ending….
The program will open with Priit and Olga’s
first collaboration:
