Admission is restricted to 18+
Except for:

Kids Program
Kids Club: Pixel Pinkie

Film classification regulations in Australia require all films to either be formally classified OR restricted to an audience of 18 years of age and over. Like most festivals, we do not have the resources to classify films, and it is for this reason alone that we are not able to admit any person under the age of 18 years to the main MIAF screenings.

Housed behind an unheralded blue door in Soho, London, sits one of the most respected effects and animation houses in the world – The Mill. Their visionary approach to creating this type of work also encompasses the 20,000+ strong on-line ad archive known as Beam TV. Work from The Mill blurs and confounds the boundaries between animation, special effects and live action.

Curated in co-operation with The Mill, this program showcases a collection of their finest commercial and creative works. It will include some of their most memorable visual effects projects ranging from their Academy Award winning work on Ridley’s Scott’s “Gladiator” to the recently released “Wolverine”. They have also done the animation on some of the most famous ads of all time including Johnnie Walker “Human”, Sony “Balls”, Sony Playstation “Mountain” and Honda “Cog”.

Standby also for some surprises, a hilarious digital reworking of a classic Thunderbirds character in a very different role, an audacious Guinness campaign, a digidelic piece featuring an odd relationship between a deer and a lion, works in progress and a project or two that never quite saw the final light of day.
