Film classification regulations in Australia require all films to either be formally classified OR restricted to an audience of either 15 years of age or 18 years of age and over, depending on the content of the program. Like most festivals, we do not have the resources to formally classify our programs/films, and it is for this reason alone that MIAF has a limited range of age restrictions.

ACMI’s ‘Studio 1’ will be transformed into an informal ‘walk-in walk-out’ FREE screening venue for a whole day!
A quiet corner to sit back, catch up with friends between screenings, do a little drawing or watch some festival extras (& we’ll throw in some surprises!)... It's a bit of an experiment folks!

> 11am-1pm: Classic Kids Animation & Drawing (all ages)

A collection of fine ol’ fashioned kids animation will be up on the screen, and there'll be an opportunity to grab a piece of paper & draw whatever you like - for kids and kids at heart!

> 2pm-3.30pm: Meet The Makers, Up Close (all ages)

A very special look at process - three local filmmakers take us through the making of their films.

- Hung Lin’s latest beautifully drawn film isn’t quite finished but it’s REAL close and he will show us what he has and how he got there. Hung worked with John Power on this years' trailer.

- Lissa Pascale & Jason Glenfield will detail how they arrived at the design of their world class CG animated film “The Last Photo” (screening in the Australian Showcase on Saturday @ 4pm).

- Julia Bourke will bring in a suitcase of the puppets and props she used in her epic production of “Glossy” (screening in Panorama #4, Friday @ 6.30pm) and take us through its 7 year production period.

> 4pm & 8pm: Installation Animation Collection (all ages)

Our annual showcase of animated artworks that play as well on a gallery wall as they would in a cinema.

> Inbetween

And when nothing else is happening, we'll screen some surprises - so come in and relax a little, catch up, watch, draw, plan.
