20 NOV 2014 : ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN FOR 2015!!

> INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES
MUST BE RECEIVED BY
MONDAY 15 DECEMBER 2014

> AUSTRALIAN ENTRIES
MUST BE RECEIVED BY
FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY 2015

We want your films - but a little earlier this year please!

We're having a BIG year at MIAF in 2015 - as we're celebrating the Centenary of Animation in Australia - but more about that later!

We usually accept international entries in mid January, but because of our research commitments to the centenary project, this year we need to set the deadline a little earlier so we can try and get programming well on the way. Apologies for any inconvenience folks.

We will still be able to receive Australian entires until the end of February, so local filmmakers, please don't fret!

In the meantime, please head to the ENTRIES page...

12 jun 2014 : voluntary festival assistants

Although the festival is one of the largest animation festivals of its type in the world, it is run by a very small core team and relies heavily on volunteers to make the magic happen! We have a number of onsite roles during the festival that we would love some extra help with. It's a great way to meet some of the very excellent people who come to the festival, and of course knowing you contributed to the success of MIAF will leave you with a lingering warm n fuzzy feeling!...

01 MAR 2014 : WHEN WILL I KNOW?!

So you've seen the posts boasting about how we have registered all the entries - and now you're thinking... "so why haven't I damn well heard anything yet?"

Well folks, with nearly 2,900 entries this year, we promise we're doing our best to be as speedy as possible! MIAF is a BIG festival with a very very very small core team (2!). We've slipped on our rocket propelled suits and while we are trying to avoid unplanned loop the loops, unavoidable crashes and untimely spurts into the stratosphere, we're getting closer!

By the end of March we hope to have contacted everyone who has submitted, to let you know if your film(s) have been considered or not for any of the MIAF14 programming.

So please hang tight - & if you see a couple of bleary eyed humans rocketing past your window, don't hesitate to contact the authorities to guide us safely home! (Comfort packs welcome)

UPDATE 26 March: We've definitely started the invitation process so we're emailing as fast as we can!! We'll also be letting people know if they unfortunately didn't get selected for MIAF14. This will take a little longer, so please allow another couple of weeks.

16 DEC 2013 : MIAF13 FLIP BOOK FILM 'UNDER THE SEA'

MIAF just scored the best Christmas present ever!
Superstars Dale Leszczynski & Chris Axiaq from Deakin University have completed the compilation film “Under the Sea” - a beautiful homage to all the flip books that were created in Patrick Jenkins' intense 6 hour workshop at MIAF13. They've done an incredible job. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped out on the day!
