NEWS FLASH! Join us at Duckboard House on Sunday night for the Festival's closing night party!!

Live, one off video cut-up animatiopn collage jamming and performances – a showcase of Melbourne’s best Vision Mixing community.

Remains To Be Seen gives you the opportunity to see Melbourne’s VJs cut-up, juxtpose, loop, feedback, re-use, recontextualise and freestyle their own and other people’s animation - delivering to the screen a real-time improvised visual spectacle.

A VJ mixes time-based images like a DJ mixes streams of sound. From within the laboratory of the dance club, the role of the VJ and DJ has evolved not only mixing streams of media but also to affecting the overall mix with real-time effects and computer driven overlays of additional sound and image. The VJ’s performance is almost always achieved using purpose-built electronic equipment. Since most electronic musicians and vision mixers are comfortable in a live, computer-mediated environment, the laptop computer and handheld devices have created a bed for collaboration between image and sound makers.

Come and witness a slice of Melbourne’s still flowering electronic AV Jamming culture. Our vision mixers will be performing alongside their favourite musicians and DJs in continuous sets throughout the evening over two rooms.

So whether it’s a great start to a big night out or a place to hit and party after the MIAF screenings, Remains To Be Seen promises a unique look at this vibrant development of animation.

Remains To Be Seen would not have been possible without the generous support of Haycom Staging.
