MIAF and ACMI join forces to bring a weird and wild animated feature to ACMI’s regular late night Friday night cult cinema slot. And we found a beauty tucked away in the vaults – you’re gonna love this one!!

Good and evil, swords and sorcerers, sex and toasters, plus lots of very, very loud music: Heavy Metal may have limited appeal, but it broke new ground in bringing Japanese anime to the West. Six stories are loosely tied together with music by hard rock bands like Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Oyster Cult and Nazareth. Though the movie is futuristic, its creators used an animation technique unused since Disney's Pinnochio. Throw in some manic voice work by Candy mixed with some classic slowburn, understated humour from Ramis and you’re looking at one very fine night at the movies.

Admission is restricted to 18+
IMPORTANT: Film classification regulations do not allow us to admit any person under the age of 18 years EXCEPT to the Kids Animation and Ub Iwerks Short Films Collection.
