As the computer becomes as ubiquitous as the pencil
or the paintbrush in the animator’s toolkit, the need for
a Computer Animation Panorama paradoxically increases and
decreases. While there are films aplenty throughout this festival
that have been helped or even fully formed at the end of a talented
mouse, it’s a fact that most creative animation still has
its genisis on somebody’s big, flat tabletop. With the first
wave of ‘novelty’ CGI thankfully more than a decade
behind us, a true & unique ‘computer-animation-aesthetic’
is one vehicle that some animators are using to tell their stories
and get their art before our gaze on the big screen.
