animation festival
-- Tix for students only $5! --
The vibrancy and rule-breaking abandon of student
animation bursts onto the big screen for the 'festival-within-a-festival'.
Raw energy, wild ideas and the kind of films that can only be made
with people who have at least one foot firmly planted in the future
are what these screenings are all about. We receive submissions
from more than 50 tertiary level schools all over the world and
this tiny sample of the very best tells us that creative animation
is going to be around for a long time yet.

+ announcing BEST STUDENT FILM FROM THE FESTIVAL!
Curated and Introduced by Kathy
Smith
Chair & Associate Professor, DADA
USC’s Division of Animation & Digital Arts (DADA) was
establised in 1995 and incoporates into its curriculum a theoretical
and critical approach to the development and research of digital
art forms as well as an historical understanding of how traditional
media, drawing, painting, sculpture, video and installation art
have transposed or been incorporated into animation.
Kathy has curated this program which highlights
works from the first 10 years of DADA. She will journey to MIAF
